Abandonware
A set of video pieces that use video game engines to explore habits of world-building and world-forgetting.
Abandonware: Jungle
Generative video, endlessly producing virtual jungle in a video game engine, even when there are no players. Disposable worlds, abandoned software, forgotten dreams, lonely monsters and abandoned theme parks.
Someone left the tap on.
A melancholy fantasy of infinite replication and superabundance, of return and redress and replacement. It's rate of generation is actually a good deal slower than current rates of deforestation. Positively glacial compared to the football field of forest that is cut down every second globally.
Above is a short recording of the generated output of the piece.
